It is with great regret that I must announce today the termination of a large part of the business operations of Roomskills. Roomskills began as a hobby; however, the revenues have never been at a level that would justify the necessary effort. In the meantime, there are many alternative offerings, so we have decided to largely discontinue Roomskills.
We are therefore closing the option to book new packages in Roomskills and will keep the services active at least until the end of the year to give customers time to search for and set up alternatives. For our main areas of use, we see sufficient alternatives available, ensuring that no one is left without options. We recommend the following alternatives to our customers:
- Smart Control: With Matter, a global standard is now available, which is supported directly by Alexa and by most providers either directly or through additional hardware like the Fritz!SmartGateway. A service like ours thus becomes redundant.
- MusicControl LMS: We never really had many customers in this area; there is an alternative with the solution from smartskills.tech—just search for it on Google.
- MusicControl Sonos: Here, there is the official skill from Sonos.
- MyMusic: We will discontinue this service. The effort is unfortunately not proportionate to the benefit and the number of users of the service.
- SqueezePlayer: We will continue this service on a free basis under a new name.
